Hiking Trails & Walking Routes in Spain

Fuente Vermejo, near Nava de San Pedro (Andalucía)

Distance: 14 km – Uphill: 1033 m – Downhill: 1033 m – Time: 5:40/6:50 hrs

This nice route winds through the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park, the largest protected area in Spain and the second largest in Europe.

Ruta Megalítica, near La Roca del Vallès (Catalonia)

Distance: 13 km – Uphill: 518 m – Downhill: 518 m – Time: 4:10/5:10 hrs

The landscapes of La Roca are marked by millennia of human occupation, still visible along its prehistoric route. Located on the edge of the Catalan Coastal Range, it features various artificial caves, dolmen sites, and rock paintings.

Siete Picos Circular, near Puerto de Navacerrada (Madrid)

Distance: 12 km – Uphill: 726 m – Downhill: 726 m – Time: 4:10/5:10 hrs

This classic trail, only 68 km from Madrid, touches seven of the highest peaks of the Sierra de Guadarrama, the main eastern section of the mountain system ranging along the center of the Iberian Peninsula.

San Nicolás de Bujaruelo, near Torla (Aragón)

Distance: 12 km – Uphill: 361 m – Downhill: 361 m – Time: 3:30/4:20 hrs

The Bujaruelo Valley has preserved its pristine natural beauty also due to its relative isolation from the neighboring and better-known Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. The Aragonese Pyrenees are a true hiking paradise.

Ruta del Agua, near Buñol (Valencia)

Distance: 9 km – Uphill: 335 m – Downhill: 335 m – Time: 3:10/3:40 hrs

Crossing the Buñol river and the Candell ravine, you’ll be surrounded by 3 spectacular mountain ranges. Great views are guaranteed by the numerous miradores along the way. The trail is dotted with caves, springs, and ponds.
